The presence in the plant of the phosphonate ion (phosphite) has shown an increase in the production of phytoalexins, substances that enhance the natural defense systems of plants against attacks by foreign organisms.

The contents of phosphorus and potassium, two of the three basic macro-elements in plant nutrition, help correct excess nitrogen and improve qualities, such as sugar content, curdling and ripening of fruits, as well as a better sprouting of the buds.
